Interesting idea, unlikable host
Bessner is wildly, unnecessarily confrontational with his guests, and the level of smug self-satisfaction he displays is intolerable even for someone who has spent most of his life in academia. I can’t believe anyone would willingly sit down with him for a coffee, much less an entire podcast episode. I rated this two stars because the guest was interesting.

Desperately parochial and without any concrete analysis (confusing given the supposed academic credentials of at least one of the hosts). Their commentary in the lead up to the ‘special operation in Ukraine’ was almost humorous. See Adam Tooze for how something like this could be done
