Extraordinary Podcast
This is an extraordinary podcast in both the scope of the coverage and the depth that each episode goes into. It’s a great listen even if you don’t consider yourself to have a consuming interest in the revolution. By taking each bite-sized episode we are able to go on a thorough journey through the entire war - from the prelude of the French and Indian War through the most recent episodes covering the last major battle in the north and the arrival of the French - and really enjoy it without being overwhelmed. Mr. Troy does a good job of being thorough without losing the momentum of the ‘story’ or getting bogged down in unnecessary detail. While it focuses on the battles, it does a good job of going into the politics and diplomacy as well, giving you better context and understanding. The weekly blog which includes an article on the week’s topic plus maps, paintings and book and article recommendations is a great resource. The recent addition of author interviews is also a great bonus. When you consider that this is all a one man show (and I assume in addition to a day job) it is frankly amazing. While I enjoy a variety of podcasts, this is the first one I have been sufficiently motivated to contribute a few dollars to.
