Achieving the ideal as a historian
I hated history. All I ever read was subject to bias. Plenty of revisionist crap. No one could be trusted to look back though time and simply try to understand what may or may not have happened. The subject was strangled by narrative and conjecture. Troy has set a standard. I now have some understanding of how the profession ideally conducts itself. He routinely states that some things are unclear, and provides a best guess with the information available. With an near obsessive approach to research and citation. For once I feel that I’m being honestly walked through a peace of history to become intimately familiar with it. With no other sources capable of suddenly reimagining it.

If you are looking for a straightforward narrative of the American Revolutionary era, this is the right podcast. This guy seems to care less about anachronistic interpretations and academic pretentiousness, and pays more attention to the sequential events that occurred, a breath of fresh air.
