Today’s weekly catch-up begins with a couple updates from last week’s episode. After that, it’s on to something from the New Zealand news that I think is very interesting—and good to hear. Six weeks in a row—and one full month—without missing a week. Who am I?! I’ve been busy “adulting” over the past week, especially changing electricity suppliers, something that took a surprising amount of my own energy. I persevered. Then I talk about something I thought might have happened by today, but it didn’t, so I talk about the non-event and why it will be so important once it does happen. That’s it for June! The June Solstice is tonight, though winter is already three weeks old, of course. The main topic today is a recent public meeting that illustrates what I was talking about last time, and it also shows a good way for politicians to respond. Finally today, I talk about a bit of a shock I had on Monday that affected me. Be sure to Like the AmeriNZ Facebook Page for all things AmeriNZ. Lots of weirdness in New Zealand since the last episode. New Zealand’s Leader of the Opposition made yet another really stupid remark and has been desperately trying to spin it since—unsuccessfully. He has a habit of saying really dumb things. A public meeting in New Zealand was taken over by conspiracy theorists. An online reporter for RNZ edited wire service stories to promote Russian propaganda, among other odd things. RNZ is still investigating. In positive news, I recently had routine...

It’s winter, and we have celebrations: The important one for me is that it was a brilliant sunny today day today. Also, this past weekend was the first King’s Birthday public holiday most New Zealanders will ever have known. I talk about all that first. The King’s Birthday Honours List was also released, and there were some surprises. Then, I talk about my personal organisation system after using it for three months. Has it worked? A bit of a catch-up today, with some things I’ve been up to lately, yesterday in particular. I also talk a little bit about some of the background stuff I don’t usually talk about. Tomorrow is June first—not just a new month, but the first day of winter in this part of the world, and it’s also the birthday of someone special. Well, who’d have thought it? We had sun today! Not only that, but sun is predicted for tomorrow and Friday! I am shocked. Today I begin by talking about why the weather’s been so bad, and how it recently unveiled a new problem I have to deal with. That moved me into related topics, including my organising system, which I’ll come back to next month. Finally, a bit of fun to end the episode. Today I have THREE topics! First is a citizenship path (finally!) for New Zealanders living in Australia, then how the rich in New Zealand aren’t paying their fair share of tax (and how the NZ news media didn’t handle either topic very well). Then, the coronation of the King of New Zealand. I’ll be watching, but the oath of allegiance is stupid. Be sure to Like the AmeriNZ Facebook Page for all things AmeriNZ. Today is about a plan I designed to help me keep on track. It’s based on a system I designed for myself when I was a grassroots LGBTQ+ activist 30 years ago. I begin this episode with an overview of New Zealand’s recent local government elections: What message do the voters send? What does it imply for the general election next year? I’ve done a mini-series of posts on my blog (links below) if you’re interested in more detail. The stuff I talk about in this episode leads on to a brief discussion of some fringe political activity. Then I talk about some of the mini-projects I did recently. Be sure to Like the AmeriNZ Facebook Page for all things...

This episode won’t be for everyone: In response to a voice message, I talk about my grief journey, including how it relates to something I talked about last time. However, I also talk about things I haven’t talked about very much (or at all), and some folk may find it confronting. Look after yourself and skip this episode if you need to. I’ll be back at the end of the week with an episode about New Zealand’s recent local elections. There’s a bit of static in parts of this episode, and I...

I managed to complete an episode in June!!! Well, that’s something. I give some advice to my fellow Americans in the wake of the Roe decision because I have a very particular perspective. Then, on to light topics. What happened to the project sorting files? Good things. What about that fatigue? More good things. Well, the first 12-months with my solar power system have passed, and the results outshine everything else I talked about. In my opinion. Be sure to Like the AmeriNZ Facebook Page for...
