“Please change the name of the “a dingo ate my baby” segment. It’s not a joke to Australians, and shouldn’t be a joke to anyone else either. I mean this with only kindness, as I’m sure you weren’t aware of where it comes from.
It was a line said by a desperate mother who’s 9 week old baby girl was taken from a tent by a wild dog. Even though bystanders heard the baby scream and saw a dingo leaving the tent, her mother was imprisoned because the media and jury felt she didn’t show enough sorrow while on trial. It’s a cruel reminder about how women are perceived if they don’t show the right emotions. She was only released from prison when new evidence came out YEARS later that proved she and her husband were telling the truth.
Please change it. It makes my heart heavy when I hear Bridget sing that line so flippantly at the start of the segment.
Love the rest of the podcast though.”
