Speak friend and enter
I’ve been meaning to check out this podcast since the beginning, but after listening to Ezra’s guest spots on Swish & Flick, I knew it was time for a re-read of Tolkien’s work. The friendship and sincere passion for the books is evident from the opening episode, and I’m slightly embarrassed to confess that in an effort to catch up, I’ve binged approximately an episode a day. I really appreciate the balance of perspectives, from Ezra’s wider lens and placing events within the larger context of the histories, to Lane pulling out quotes that capture a specific moment beautifully. The discussion is accessible enough for a first time reader, but definitely for those who enjoy long talks around the fire, and the elf who says both yes and no at the same time.

I absolutely love listening to Ez & Lane talk about one of my favorite series ever. It helps my hour long drive to work and I find myself listening whenever I can. Can’t wait to get all caught up!

What I am most excited for about this podcast, is the experience Lane has from actually going to New Zeland. As someone who has always wanted to go it gives me that much bigger sense of wonder, and really puts the book into something you would actually be able to imagine.

I’ve been looking for a current reread podcast of LOTR and I’ve finally found it. Funny and great literary analysis, it feels like a college classroom discussion with two fun profs. Good sound production by two guys who clearly LOVE these books!
