Story is Heartbreaking, Narration Exaggerated
This is a new medium for Dr. Phil, so I’d give him a break. He’s a seasoned interviewer but not a storyteller. Give him a break; he’ll find his footing, but right now he is learning the ropes of the craft. Podcasting is not an easy row to hoe. The story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard is one of unbelievable abuse and deception. If ever there were mitigating circumstances for a crime, this one has it. Would we penalize a concentration camp prisoner for killing a Nazi guard to escape? I cannot say that there should be no penalty but this young lady was in prison for 20 years before she ever committed a crime. Overall, a good start, but you need to be less dramatic, Dr. Phil. Take it from someone who has been a podcaster and a family member of a murder victim: the dramatizing cheapens the event.

Meh
The story of Gypsy Rose is absolutely captivating, but I couldn’t even make it 10 minutes into this podcast. It’s way too verbose and hyperbolic, but that’s Dr. Phil I suppose.
