A little insensitive
I found this podcast about two weeks ago and binged a bunch of my favorite movies that they reviewed, but the hosts continued disregard for color conscious casting in animation has lost a listener. I have heard at least five or six times all at different points in this podcast’s history that the hosts don’t think that casting white voice actors for bipoc roles is a big deal, and that people “shouldn’t be so offended” by this practice (takes from their episode “An American Tail: Fievel Goes West”). I understand that this podcast goes as far back as the early 2010’s, but to have episodes still running and to not acknowledge this harmful message is inexcusable. This idea hurts your bipoc audience, and the excuse of “that’s how it is” is no longer viable in the world of 2020. I’m hoping that the hosts can at least recognize that this statement is harmful and no longer acceptable in our world, but if they don’t, I hope that people can see this and be aware of their stance on bipoc representation in animation.

The Rotoscopers are so great at giving factual information on some of animation's greatest classics. I've learned so much from listening to their podcast and can't wait for more episodes to come. If you haven't listened yet, check them out!Read full review »

Very fun and refreshing to listen to. The Rotoscopers make you feel like you're hanging out with friends who share a love for all things animated. I've listened to many animation podcasts since Clay Kaytis went on hiatus and this is the only one that doesn't come off as pretentious....Read full review »
