Truly great
This podcast has exceeded my expectations and in my opinion is such a better story than the version that was turned into the television series recently. I feel like this podcast does a great job at connecting personally with the audience, it is so much more informative than the tv show and movie that came before, and still is glitzy and alluring with music and energy. I’ve been a Selena fan since I was a little girl. I feel like this podcast is doing a great job at putting things in context surrounding Selena and her story that maybe I didn’t understand when I was little or never felt like I could articulate. It tells her story in a way that is so relatable, regardless of who you are or where you’re from. It also seems to be able to portray such a positive spin on Selena and her family while feeling real, sincere and genuine, and therefore makes me feel like I love Selena even more, rather than worrying that she was being forced into being a performer or something nefarious was going on. I appreciate this podcast very much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Just poignant and beautifully composed narrative and audio all around. The personal connection brought into share the perspectives of Mexican-Americans, particularly women, is offered with care and nuance.

The nuanced take on language, identity, culture and so much more is brilliant. Not to mention Maria’s...Read full review »

I am from El Paso, so I felt some real fronterizo pride in listening to this excellent podcast. Particularly impressive is the way that Spanish and English podcasts are not literal translations, but bilingual variations on a single theme. The episodes on Selena and Spanish deserve a prize.
