“As a Hispanic woman who grew up on the border, I found it a little weird when the narrator continually stated that everyone made fun of her for coming from Mexico. Hello, at least half of residents in that area are from Mexico or 1st generation Americans with Mexican parents. I found it very difficult to believe that people in El Paso made such a big deal about her heritage, when so many of them would look just like her. It seemed exaggerated.
The rest of the podcast was entertaining and rather uplifting, but I just kept going back to the “I felt so out of place” which made no sense to me. It’s not as if she went from Mexico to Vermont or something.”
