102: Having an Accident on the Routeburn and a Five Year Recovery Journey with Sarah Heffron
Description
While running the Routeburn Track, Sarah Heffron had a serious accident - and in a moment, it changed her entire life. Sarah grew up in Ireland with a strong connection to the Atlantic Ocean. When she moved to New Zealand, she discovered her love for running, the backcountry and staying in huts. While trail running the Routeburn Track, Sarah fell and had a major concussion. In shock, she didn't call for help, but finished the trail and was misdiagnosed by the medical system. Sarah shares about the slow road to recovery that has taken over 5 years. She says she wouldn't change a thing, she shares the lessons she's learnt throughout recovery. Nature continues to bring Sarah joy and inspiration and her advice is to practice gratitude every day.
