Sept 17 podcast
Generally I like this podcast, but I felt the guest on this episode was way off base. She made a comment that the reason teachers wanted to stay home during the pandemic was because “other professionals were able to stay home, and teachers wanted to, also.” This could not be further from the truth. Every educator I know - this from a retired teacher who now works in educational sales and talks with teachers every day - was concerned about bringing the virus home to their children and their extended family. Unless this was mentioned in the book, she also did not discuss the fact that schools have been plagued for the last two years with an incredibly vocal minority of parents who come to school board meetings and spout off about their children’s “freedoms“ being trampled because they’ve been asked to wear masks. The author also mentioned how schools were open in other countries, but failed to mention that, in the vast majority of those countries, there wasn’t public outcry over preventative measures like masking, vaccines, and the like. Only in the United States it seems that parents are more concerned about their children having to wear a mask and less about fellow citizens - and their children - being safe from a deadly virus. As I stated, in my opening of this review, I generally like this podcast. Do better.

I must admit I am a fan of Shumits’s calming voice. I absolutely love listening to her in all podcast or news that she hosted. Love to hear more.

If you like podcasts “about life, universe and everything” - this might be the perfect fit. Reasonable duration, interesting guests. And very great host. Really great addition to the collection. Topics are influenced by current news, but still general enough to be listened anytime.

About what you’d expect from that side. Always good to hear from that side of the aisle
