For those new to art and those who can’t get enough of it
Okay there’s not any art history podcast I don’t like. But this is a good one for beginners to the world of art, but also for people like me who love art and art museums. I just found this podcast in its second season which is a good thing because I’m binging my way through the first season. My favorite show so far was about Warhol. He usually doesn’t get much respect but when I saw his Sixteen Jackies at the Broad I realized something else deeper was going on than soup can labels. 16 Jackies is painting about a woman in mourning and I felt sad looking at it. Yet other museums goers were laughing and taking pictures in front of the painting and saying “look it’s called sixteen Jackies.” But thanks to Jennifer Dasal who unlocked the mystery —and the irony—of my encounter with the Warhol that day. I didn’t know he had his Death and Disaster series. And his more famous Marilyn Monroes...why had no one ever explained it to me? I appreciate Warhol so much more. And after hearing the episode on Art Attacks I know why I get so tired at art museums. It’s a thing. So yeah, love this podcast. Thanks so much!

Jen's storytelling is always fascinating and engaging, which is especially impressive since she is careful not to embellish or sensationalize. My husband and I both enjoy listening to the Artcurious podcasts together and then discussing our own theories afterwards. What a refreshing treat!Read full review »
