Why you should look forward to Monday mornings
This is hands down one of my favorite podcasts out there. I actually look forward to Monday mornings now (when the duo releases their weekly podcast). Asian, Not Asian is a nice humor-filled and (generally) intellectually-provocative boost to my morning commute. What I especially like is Fumi and Mic’s unpretentious approach to topics of race and culture from a minority perspective. Although the pair peppers each of their conversations with jokes and laughs, it’s clear that their goal is not to solely offer comedic banter, but to primarily have a frank discussion about the issues facing Asian Americans in the US. They say what’s on their mind, PC Police be damned. It’s a refreshing take and one that invites listeners of all backgrounds to participate (albeit implicitly) in the present conversation as well as those going forward. Two thumbs up!
