“I was excited to find a podcast dedicated to AC lore. I’ve played several of the games and was looking for something to help tie all the games together and help explain the overall story. Austin does a fantastic job of this. You can tell he is very knowledgeable of the AC universe. The only reason I didn’t rate this 5 stars is because of Shelby. I’m not sure what she is supposed to bring to the podcast. She comes off as unprofessional at times (i.e yawning during the podcast, interrupting Austin in the middle of explaining a point). She admittedly has no knowledge of the games. As a result she often chimes in with her personal opinion about the historical context of the game. She gets on soapboxes that have nothing to do with the game. I listen to hear about AC. I do think it’s necessary to discuss the historical context the games are set in, but I don’t care what her feelings are about the politics and figures that existed hundreds of years ago. Tell the context, but leave out the commentary. A great example of this is in ep. 8 where she rants about Christopher Columbus, it doesn’t matter that she doesn’t like him, or that she’s disappointed in Ubisoft because they chose to portray him in a way that doesn’t agree with her opinion. He died 500 years ago. Her opinion of him literally doesn’t matter to anyone. Why take up a chunk of a podcast on it? I hope moving forward she dials back the personal commentary on history, politics, and religion, and sticks to the game. If she can’t, then I hope they replace her with someone else that also has knowledge of AC and can add value to the discussion about the universe the game is set in. This is a gaming podcast. Historical fiction. If it is a trigger for her, maybe it’s not the best franchise for her to join a podcast about. I like Austin’s insight and the information he shares. You can tell he loves the franchise. That’s what I’m looking for in an AC podcast.”
