It finally makes sense
I stumbled onto this podcast after a friend told me about the concept of demand avoidance. I felt almost instant recognition, both of 1) the trauma-response I was seeing from my kid and that I had seen for so many years from my partner, and 2) of my own actions in our family, which I had been trying to understand exclusively through the lense of codependency, but my efforts to transform weren’t working. I’m still in the early stages of understanding PDA, but this podcast has been such a support and the information has been a relief. I’m so grateful!
