Loose talk on some good subjects
I enjoy a good long podcast and you pretty much get one here. Granted, at times the length is increased with dead pauses as they try and collect their thoughts or comment on things less than interesting but such is the nature of an off the cuff podcast. I don’t mind too much the sort of group talk feel to it, though at times you wish there was a bit more “leadership” in the direction of the discussion. I do enjoy that it covers some ground I’m interested in (Orca, Bigfoot, etc) and so have caught a number of their podcasts. But, there are moments where their knowledge gets a little faulty, at least pertaining to the context of history. Around the 45 minute mark of the Herschell Gordon Lewis episode for example, one of the hosts throws an uneducated jab at conservatives characterizing the song The South Will Rise Again as “Republican”. Yet no one in the group decides to correct him that it was actually the Republican Party that fought the war to prevent the south (and slavery) from rising, not the other way around. So, as long as you are okay with just loose banter about genre films and not worried about intellectual context with history, politics, etc., you will do fine.
