Great Surface Level Podcast
I was really excited about this podcast when it first came out but as someone who also follows the NWSL news on social media in addition to listening to this, I feel like I don’t get anything extra out of the podcast—it just feels like a repeat of news that I’ve already heard/seen and the analysis is usually pretty surface level/seems pretty safe. I definitely want to build up women’s soccer and I think this podcast could be a great mechanism for doing so but it doesn’t seem that great for people who are hardcore fans. I was also really disappointed by Lisa’s comment in the most recent episode (12/8) about Alex Morgan being in a different place in her career now and part of that meant ‘being a mom now’—it’s just perpetuating sexist coverage of female athletes. Perhaps Lisa also talks about whether male athletes have recently become parents when she talks about them but if she doesn’t, this was a bad take.

Sandra and Lisa do a great job of bringing current analysis to the latest news and games in the NWSL. I never miss one- thanks for bringing things to light… especially the team by team preseason analysis!

Great recaps and previews of games, both hosts very knowledgeable about the league. Very consistent in the number of shows per week. Also has a youtube channel if you are someone who listens better with visuals.
