Description
"Do you solemnly swear or affirm that you will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic—that you will bear true faith and allegiance to the same, that you will take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that you will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which you are about to enter, so help you, God?" "I swear." "Congratulations, you're now members of the 118th Congress." And with that, Erica Lee Carter, the daughter of the late Sheila Jackson Lee, was sworn in as she fills her mother's legacy in the 118th Congress. She won a special election to finish her mother's term, serving the 18th Congressional District of Texas. The late Sheila Jackson Lee held the position from 1995 until her passing in July of 2024 at the age of 74. She passed away from pancreatic cancer. Learn more about your ad choices.
