“Hello, my name is Kate. I grew up watching Avatar, it was my favorite show when I was 7 years old so it is very near and dear to my heart. I absolutely love that people are discovering it or reliving their childhood like myself now that the show is on Netflix. Here’s my two cents on this podcast: The first thing is that I think you should do is take notes from Jenna and Angela from Office Ladies. They do an excellent job of breaking down each episode. For example, listen to the audio commentaries (which can be found in dvd), watch the interviews from the creators and the actors (there’s a ton on YouTube, particularly the funny ones from Comic-Con) and really break down the episode rather then giving a play by play of each scene and commenting on what’s happening. That’s not a break down, that’s a reaction. Which leads me into my second cent, Greg. I wanna give a disclaimer before I jump into this: I am not trying to hate on Greg, I just think that there is room for improvement. Exhibit A: There are plenty of parallels to many different super hero stories because it is a hero’s journey. I hate to be that guy, but Avatar came out before Captain America. Thank you and furthermore, I recommend contributing more than just your thoughts and opinions. Acorn gives and excellent summary and Greg compares it to other media and points out the funnies. That’s great, keep that, but add to it. What are some fun animation quirks that you didn’t notice? Why did Brain choose to go in a more anime-ish route when designing the characters? Explain the significance of having characters that accurately resembled the regions that they are from. There is plenty more that could be asked. This podcast should be the answer and, so far, it’s just a play by play. You guys have a lot of really great potential, it just takes some effort and energy to get there, but I believe Acorn can save the podcast.”
