In this round-up episode of AWS TechChat, Shane and Gabe come at you with raft of short sharp and important updates that occurred in October and November in the year 2019. They started the show with a fun announcement, we introduced the Amazon WordPress plugin. It combines our plugins around Polly and Translate together and adds CloudFront, it’s available in the WordPress plugin Gallery. Before pivoting to something rather huge in the world of AWS, Savings Plans. We introduced you to Savings Plans and talked about the two variations, Compute and EC2 instance Savings Plans whilst comparing how they compare to RI's and talked about how to order a savings plan. CloudWatch has now launched cross account and cross region dashboard giving you a single pane view or aggregated view across multiple AWS accounts allowing you display what matters fore you. RDS on VMWare has now gone GA, allowing you to run a database engine on your own hardware while the Amazon RDS service automates the heavy lifting so you don't have to. It wouldn't be an update show without container updates, three of them. ECR now has container scanning allowing you to detect CVE’s. Kube has integration with EC2 Spot and ECS now has CDK support. Lastly, to close out the show, and in sticking with updates in groups of 3, GuardDuty introduces three new threat detections, two around S3 (S3BlockPublicAccessDisabled, S3ServerAccessLoggingDisabled) and lastly one on EC2/MetaDataDNSRebind informs you that an EC2 instance metadata exfiltration.
