“I found this podcast after watching a movie called “Yi Yi” at a Taiwanese film festival and trying to find a podcast talking about it. I kid you not - half the discussion was about how “white film bros pretend to love this film for attention and brownie points” or words to that effect. Rather than taking the movie on its own terms they kept returning to how “it’s not as good as the film bros make it out to be”. It just felt like a juvenile and cynical way of framing the discussion, not to mention trite.”
