Good to look back….to a point.
It’s pleasant to look back on BofB. This particular series is a bit hagiographic of the show and important supporters of it. The host sometimes swoons a bit too much about aspects of BofB. Ambrose popularized WW II history to good result but ultimately was probably a sloppy historian in his final years. Guests so far are excellent particularly Ron Livingston. Nice insight to the episodes he was in. Ultimately I ‘ll listen to the entire series. ( and go watch some episodes for yet another time!) I enjoyed the series and had the opportunity for my children to spend an evening talking to Heffron and Guarnere in Eindhoven many years ago. Ultimately it’s a nice look back but the vaguely childish enthusiasm that the host imbues in it wears thin after awhile. I am grateful though that HBO is commemorating the series!

So interesting to gain new insight and perspective from those involved twenty years later. Roger Bennett keeps its original yet fun with a blend of honest interest with Men in Blazers lightheartedness!
