Episode Notes
Metroidvania Madness!? Drew & Josh discuss the recently-announced Kingdom Come: Deliverance II which leads into a more broad discussion about the place of realism in gaming. Then, they chat about the shiny new Delta emulator on iOS, Josh gives some feedback on the full release of Stellar Blade, and they do a bit of a dive into the upcoming Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree. What do they want to see? What do they expect to see? How many poison swamps can be stuffed into a single DLC!? Only time (and podcasts) will tell.
Finally, for the main topic of the day, they go over the goodest boy of all the genres: Metroidvanias. They briefly cover the history of the genre, what makes it work, where it's been, where it's going, and some of their favorite games that fit (at least roughly) into the metroidvania framework. Thanks for listening!
