Shawn Johnson East on Intergenerational Parenting
Listen now
Description
Mother, Olympian, and New York Times Best Selling author, Shawn Johnson East joins us today to discuss intergenerational parenting. When Shawn was pregnant with her first baby, her parents moved across the country in order to support her as she entered motherhood. Shawn’s parents are super hands on in raising their grandchildren and come over to her home every day. For this to work, Shawn talks about the importance of strong communication with your partner and the importance of finding common ground with your partner when it comes to parenting. She speaks to us about raising active children and how to foster a wild and crazy energy in children. We did this interview when Shawn was pregnant with her third baby so I asked her what it was like to share the exciting news with her two older children. Through her motherhood journey, just a few years in, Shawn talked about how she shifted into a confident parent and how she has created a tight, trusted circle she can lean on when she needs parenting advice.  Our conversation covers everything from the craziness of having toddlers while pregnant, communication, the difference between only children and multiple children, the importance of involved grandparents, and so much more!  Please join us on YouTube for our full conversation and many more on video!
