Ep14 : Fr. Chris Eaton MGL - From Hip-Hop to the Holy Spirit
Description
Father Chris Eaton is a priest belonging to the Missionaries of God's Love, a recently established and dynamic religious community. He currently serves as the novice master in the MGL formation house located in Canberra, Australia. Father Chris has gained recognition as the 'Rapping Priest' for his unique talent of writing and performing his own songs, which he has been doing since 2007.
Father Chris Eaton MGL shares his journey of becoming a priest and how he uses rap music to bring the gospel to young people. He grew up Catholic and listened to hip-hop and rap during his teenage years, but it wasn't until he was 18 and went to a retreat that he experienced the Holy Spirit in a new way and his faith deepened. He became a leader in a youth group and joined the national evangelization teams, which opened him up to the idea of priesthood.
Father Eaton believes that the words and lyrics of songs have to come from a real depth to help people encounter God, and he uses his gifts to build God's kingdom. He uses his musical talents to share Gospel messages and encourages other priests and religious to have the courage to believe in Jesus.
