After the Easterlings come to Hithlum, Morwen sends her son Túrin to Doriath to seek refuge. After three years in the wilderness, he returns, and Mablung witnesses his involvement in the death of a Nandor. Túrin flees and turns to a life of lawlessness, but Beleg searches for him.
