“I will be a first year 4th grade teacher (same grade I student taught in) starting at the end of July 2024. Although I am far from new to elementary education. For the last 7 school years I have been working as a substitute teacher, staff building sub, and a special education paraprofessional. I am going to a new school to begin my classroom teaching career and another big switch I am going from a traditional public school in a local district to a charter school. I haven’t seen any of the school other than the office area and conference room where my interview took place, I was lucky enough to meet several staff during my interview. But I am pretty nervous, but luckily I have a fair amount of classroom experience to draw upon. I have been binge listening to episodes of your podcast and have heard a lot of very useful information and I would agree that coming through a transition program so often in my classes I had to laugh at what the text book was saying or even some of the articles as to how something is being explained versus how it actually gets done inside a classroom.”
