“I came across this podcast late last summer, while I was getting ready for my first year of being an elementary teacher. I found the topics SO beneficial and essential for me to reflect upon. There were ideas and resources available through this podcast that were amazing too!! With the current situation of school closures, I find myself missing the natural routine of learning more about teaching during the school year. I remembered this podcast, and how much it helped me prepare for my sweet first graders. After listening to episodes on my daily walks, I feel even more ready to take on distance learning, and get ready for the next school year!
I listened to the episode about how to deal with difficult students. This topic has been central to my first year of teaching, as I was witnessing new types of behaviors from my students that I had never seen before. Sometimes I felt like I was at the top of the world, and then I would feel defeated with extreme behaviors I could not control. I cannot tell you how much this podcast episode impacted me. Lori’s personal stories and advice resonated with me. I feel rejuvenated and inspired to continue making those important connections during this school closure. This podcast is a great resource to use when I reflect and plan for how I might set up my classroom differently next year. Beginning Teacher Talk is a MUST for any beginning teacher. Thank you so much for creating this incredible podcast, Lori!”
