““I’m a 20+ year teacher who started listening to podcasts last summer while exercising at the gym or taking a much needed walk during Crisis Learning in the spring. This year, I am teaching F2F with twenty one 3rd graders, while taking on the role of cooperating teacher to my year long student teacher and mentoring a brand new first year teacher next door. Needless to say, this has been the hardest year yet. I feel not only responsible for my room, but the new teacher next door and my student teacher. I want them both to love teaching as much as I do, but how do I show them during a pandemic?
I began listening to this podcast for them. I wanted to give them ideas, other than mine, to use in their teaching. Well, needless to say, that plan backfired!
I quickly learned that this podcast is NOT just for the first year teachers or student teachers but, it’s for me too! Dr. Frieson has such a wonderful calming voice. I can almost picture her in her classroom, and many days I wish that she was one of my teammates, so that we could sit around and bounce ideas off of one another. EVERY week I look forward to the next episode, so that I can grow as an educator and mentor. My favorite episode was the one that just allowed us to take time to breath and reassure ourselves that we are good enough this year.
I would just like to say thank you, Dr. Frieson for giving me just what I needed this year. A soft place to land, when I needed to get away from the madness and to refocus myself. I have learned so much from you in these last 88 episodes and I can’t wait to see what you come up with next. Keep doing great work for those of us who are still in the trenches everyday. We NEED you. ❤️”
