Written by one of the most celebrated Shayar of all time, Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Born in the year 1911, Faiz Saab hails from Sialkot, Punjab. Right after the completetion of his Alma mater; Faiz saab got his creation ‘Naqsh-e-Faryadi’ published which took the world into another realm. The world knows him as an army officer author, communist, teacher and a revolutionary poet who wrote about almost everything that the world needs. Faiz's early runes had been conventional, light- hearted discourses on love and beauty but later he started progressive poetry. In the year 1941 Faiz wrote a lyric that impeccably embodies the spirit of the Progressive Movement:
Speak—your lips are free.
Speak—your tongue and your upright body
Are still yours.
Speak—your life is still yours.
Faiz is loved and celebrated for his runes in traditional Urdu forms and his remarkable capability to expand the conventional thematic prospects to include political and social issues.
