Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
This podcast is a must listen. We are living in an age where the dark shadows are finally coming out to the light, and with that comes a nation gripping to understand the following: 1. Why are the young girls and adult women not believed by the organizations that used their talents to make money off of them? 2. Why are organizations continuing to employ bad decision makers or in this case for so many years make NO decision(s) about protecting its entire body of students, athletes, and victims? 3. Why are coaches and proper authorities willing to thwart their ethics, morals, and common logic in order to continue a corrupt system that does not have to be? 4. Why are our leaders willing to give lip service from an office, a stand, a judges chair, say the victims are “credible,” only to continue to appoint people in power who have abusive and dirty pasts themselves? 5. How can we maintain a sturdy competitive athletic environment without verbal, physical, sexual, and mental abuse? 6. And if this happens again, will the organizations who ignored and kept quiet the systemic and abhorrent violence against these women and men who were mostly under the age of 17 at the time of the abuse be able to hear and make right these grievances moving forward? We must answer these questions and solve these cases, even if you disagree with my politics, religion, background, or ethnic upbringing. It’s time to take a seat at the table and unfurl these stories and find solutions, answers, and most importantly, accountability.
