This show keeps getting stronger
I have really enjoyed this podcast even as I skip over topics that don’t interest me - Kate is a lovely host making even weak interviewees sparkle. My only complaint is the interviewee for the Haití episode the interviewee was asked why slaves were losing limbs - her answer basically there wasn’t any reason. If my memory is correct Haitian riches were indeed in sugar as she rightly stated, but she completely ignored that sugar refinement was and is extremely dangerous. The injustice done is obvious, but her answer of why people were losing limbs was “just cause sadists”. - not that maybe they were forced to do dangerous refinement and probably often lost limbs in explosion or implosion of the sugar. The island was outrageously cruel, but her passion seemed to leave the content unexplained

A very enjoyable 3 episodes but the expert on the Queen Victoria & food was wrong about the sheep. The losing of their teeth does not mean they have to be killed. They can have soft food such as soak nuts, readigrass & sugar beet but farmers wouldn’t bother whilst rescues will.
