“I am an office based construction worker whose daily commute is over a hour each way. For the last twelve years I have listened to a number of different podcasts to help ease my journeys. Some have fallen by the wayside and some I still listen to.
Increasingly the first podcast I look for in a morning is “Beyond today”. This lapsed catholic Yorkshireman from a working class background, doesn’t do reviews. My recommendation is continuation. Letting things fall be the wayside is my disapproval.
When I initially heard that No10 was looking to enrol weirdos and misfits I had hoped they had read Matthew Syed’s excellent books. These had been reviewed on another podcast by Andrew Marr and prompted me to buy the audio versions.
I had hoped when listening to your podcast “Why is No 10 hiring Weirdos”, reference may be made to Rebel Ideas. I was delighted to hear the author discuss the points he had made and how applicable they were to the podcast.
Your believe your podcast is truly informative, thought provoking. They sometimes contradict my forty years of adult experience, they bring to surface old preludes of mine and latent hypocrisies pricked by my catholic guilt.
The common sense approach of your podcast (and Matthew Syed’s books) leads me to think Yorkshire people are involved. However I understand Mathew Syed’s mother is from Wales and his father is from Pakistan.
I intend to carry on listening to your podcast and for once, thought it was worth mentioning.
