Academic yet accessible Bible history podcast
I love this podcast: biblical archeology, anthropology, sociology, and textual/literary history, rolled into one show. Guests on each episode are academic experts in their field. Dave and Helen are great co-hosts. Dave’s journalism and divinity school background make a good combo – his interviews of guests are thoughtful, well-managed, and accessible. I also appreciate his Jewish background, which ensures that this is a *biblical* podcast, not just a *Christian* one. Helen’s extensive academic background (New Testament) allows her to ask intelligent questions and offer additional information on many topics, along with guests. There are episodes where Helen *is* the guest expert, and those are excellent too. I think this show would appeal to anyone interested in ancient near east history, archeology, or the Bible.

As a longtime Christian and student of the Bible, I appreciate how the facts are presented and often learn cool things about its historical and cultural context.
