Has gone downhill
I was a regular listener to this podcast for several months during the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2019. There were some fantastic podcasts during that period. However, I think this podcast has recently began endorsing (either directly or through omission) reductionist thinking and bad ideas. Specifically, the manner in which matters such as gender and race are discussed, and even infused into topics to which they are irrelevant is problematic to me. The recent expose of academic corruption in the fields of “grievance studies” should be enough to stop a public broadcaster from disseminating ideas which originate from these fields of study. Giving a platform to these ideas is akin to endorsing climate change denialism or encouraging people to seek homeopathic treatments for diseases. Better editorial control is needed.

More reviews of Big Ideas
I like this show. It's all quality debates and lectures giving you something to mull over. It is quite varied and not all programs appeal. There are a few that send me to sleep but at the end of the day the show is so prolific that the positives far outweigh the negatives. Worth downloading.Read full review »

Its strength is making available interviews and lectures that cover in depth, topics and issues that our mainstream media usually only touch on superficially.

An amazing set of lectures. Highly recommended and possibly the best podcasts on itunes. Make the time to listen to it.
