Mark 5:28-30, “For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition. Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?” Jesus KNEW healing power had gone out from him. He knew someone’s reach of faith had activated his power. And he personally knows every time we reach for him in faith and his power is released. JESUS KNOWS HE HEALED ME. AND HE’S LOOKING FOR ME TO SEE HOW I RECEIVED IT. Jesus could have continued on in the crowd without stopping to acknowledge the power which had gone from him to this woman who had secretly reached for his robe in faith. BUT HE WANTED TO SEE HOW SHE RECEIVED IT. He insists he know who’s faith had activated his power. With deep shame, the woman who had been forbidden contact with the public for 12 years, fell to the ground and confessed, it was her. Then Jesus said in verse 34, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.” How has he found you after receiving his power? You. Have you reached for him in faith before, and has he provided a way, gotten you through, rescued you, strengthened you, healed you? He KNOWS you reached in faith and he knows his power was sent out to you. Now, he’s looking to see how you received it. * Have you identified yourself as “daughter”?You are a daughter of the Almighty King – you’re a real life princess! He has declared you worthy! Why do you feel unworthy to ask him for what you need? Why do you distance yourself, thinking your needs are a burden to him? Jesus was in no way bothered by this woman’s reach, he was honored! He was moved! So moved, he stopped everything else to turn to her.* Jesus said, “go in peace”. She had spent 12 years stuck in this place of shame. 12 years of struggle. 12 years of trying everything and nothing would work. Now he says, GO – go live your life in peace. Receive peace of mind. I have taken your worries. I have lifted your burden. What Jesus did NOT want her to do was receive the healing in her body, but continue with a worried mind. Isn’t that often us? God comes through for us, he makes a way, he strengthen us, he provides for us, he helps us overcome, but our minds are not filled with peace, instead our minds are filled with worries of the goodness not lasting. Of this breakthrough being short lived. Of the other shoe dropping. Of the next struggle and hardship. Of the next disappointment and set back. But Jesus is coming back to see how you have received the flow of his power to see if you have moved on in PEACE. * Jesus said, “Your suffering is over.” Reading the MSG translation of verse 34 – Jesus said to her, “Daughter, you took a risk of faith, and now you’re healed and whole. Live well, live blessed! Be healed of your plague.” Live well, lived blessed. Are you? Are you living well with your healing? Are you living blessed with his provision? Are you remembering what he has done for you? Girl, you simply CANNOT live the same once you have received the power of Jesus! Isn’t it interesting that after she had already been healed, after her bleeding had stopped, after her terrible condition had been healed, then Jesus said, “Be healed of your plague.” But she was already healed, why would he say that? Understand, healing must happen beyond the surface level of our condition, it must happen in our minds.
