Heartbreaking, heartwarming, brilliant
This podcast is one of the best out there, allowing women imprisoned in Australia to share their stories on their terms. Each episode’s theme is explored with plenty of humour which helps the listener digest the often traumatic and heartbreaking experiences of the women. It’s another insight into the appalling treatment of Indigenous people, women in particular, since colonisation. There is often laughter and hope, though, as the women interviewed explain the quirks of prison life, and overall the series is uplifting and compassionate. I have so much respect for the women who shared their stories with such honesty and openness, and I wish the podcast helps in their quest for freedom not only from the prison walls but their traumas, abuses and past choices.
