“I’ve been listening to these guys for about a year, or at least I’ve retroactively listened to about a year’s worth of episodes. It’s been hard to pinpoint exactly what bothered me about their discussions.
They specialize in big, expensive games. Though they look down on backing a lot of Kickstarters, it’s obvious they exist in a space where they don’t have an issue buying big games and have the free time to spend long hours playing them. Most of their conversations around smaller, shorter, or lighter games treat them as “they’ll play it with family” or otherwise dismissed. Tim very rarely plays co-ops, and Chris seems to only gravitate toward toys-for-adults games. Quick and light games are my bread and butter, because they’re less expensive, and I have a “game group” that is more like a friend group that sometimes plays games.
Also, by their own admission, BGHT doesn’t spend a whole lot of time in one game. This has them often bouncing off some games that I love, that require more investment, like Root.
All these things make it so it’s hard to enjoy their discussion and recommendations. They are just not my kind of gamers. Unfortunately, I need to unsubscribe to spare my wallet and my time, they are just not my kind of gamers.”
