A Rare and Precious Find
I’m so pleased to have stumbled across this delightful podcast by happenstance (while searching for information on the jarred head of Willem Mons, which makes a guest appearance in episode 62). At first I did not fully appreciate the theatrical flair, being accustomed to more mundane documentary style offerings, but now I see that the intricate sound design and amusing host characterization are exactly what make this podcast so special. Mr. Ridenour’s cranky humor as the eccentric and finicky folklore aficionado has especially grown on me over these past 80 odd episodes. A hint to new listeners- this one is best enjoyed while listening with headphones in both ears, to fully experience the sound design and enjoy the little details. A snifter of brandy is optional, but also strongly recommended. Bravo, mein host!
