Well researched and smart, also wacky and zany
The show doesn’t skimp on the scholarship and extensive quotes from historical sources. It can be hard to follow and to remember that you’re listening to factual accounts of real things because there are a lot of stock-library soundboard effects and every episode opens with five minutes of MCU-style banter between fictional characters. Surely many people like that and the whole thing is far better produced than the vast majority of podcasts.

I’ve been listening for hours anytime I get a chance. So many fun stories, told thoughtfully and with useful background information. Horror nerds rejoice!

Thoroughly researched and professionally presented with great readings, music and sound effects. Each show is a superb confection of the dark and macabre. Highly recommended.

I really want to like this podcast but it is sometimes quite difficult to endure. How much better it could be if there was less faffing about with the pointless panto at the beginning of each program.
