Could be worse, much worse.
Look here…just listen to Book Fight. Give it two or three episodes. Try to ignore the fact that Tom and Mike often go off on tangents so irrelevant and extreme that you’ll risk an accident to confirm that what you wanted coming out of your car speakers is still ostensively what is playing. Also, I apologize for those of you who do give these guys a listen and are appalled at their lack of appreciation or even knowledge of and for authors like Neal Stephenson. But if you stick it out, you’ll fall for the show. Mike and Tom clearly love words, and the stringing together of words, and the beauty and horrors that can come from that. Their MFAs notwithstanding, their attempts to grapple, or occasionally simply tolerate what others have felt compelled to put down on paper are informed, entertaining, and even on occasion, right.

Such a brilliant podcast. Has me laughing out loud every week. Can’t recommend it enough. Whether you are a reader or a writer, download it and have a listen as I’m so glad it got recommended to me. No composite, mean or quarter scoring needed, 5 stars!
