Not representative of all pregnancies
I listened to this podcast prior to trying to conceive, which was a mistake. Listening to Sarah’s melodramatic weekly portrayals of pregnancy made me absolutely TERRIFIED of getting pregnant — so much so that I pushed back our TTC timeline a few months. It seems that the host’s personal experience with pregnancy was exceptionally bad, which definitely skews the tone of the episodes. I am now 20 weeks pregnant and have had a very uneventful, easy pregnancy. Dare I say — I like being pregnant! I decided to re-listen to some of the Bottle Service episodes in hopes of relating to the content this time around, but again I found the episodes to be overly focused on the host’s own pregnancy-related woes at the expense of educating listeners about the vast array of pregnancy topics. For example, a discussion around how to manage miscarriage anxiety in the first trimester, safe exercises for pregnancy, optimal pregnancy nutrition, etc. would be much more beneficial to listeners than a week-by-week laundry list of complaints. The postpartum content is definitely a lot more educational, well-researched, and informative, however! If you’re listening to this podcast to learn more about pregnancy, just be wary that it’s highly biased towards the host’s personal experience of pregnancy, which seems to be unusually negative.
