Description
Yes, we know the World Cup is on and during the Portugal and Uruguay games, John and Sat found time to join me in a discussion about what we've observed so far at the World Cup. We talked about the changing face of football and the need for hybrid forwards. What happened to all the number 9's? Is it Ronaldo and Messi's fault after all? We took a bit of a journey exploring Spain's influence coupled timely with Germany's rise in the modern game and how that may have affected as well as influenced academies around the world. They just don't make them like they used to...maybe because they don't want them the same?  We also had to talk about the underperformance of KDB, Eden Hazard, and the rest of the aging Belgian generation. Where do they go next from here? Roberto Martinez was hailed as an amazing appointment, but looking back at it now I do not think he was the best bet.
