Misinformation about debunked therapy
Episode 107 shares uncritical positive information about “letterboard therapy,” which is debunked pseudoscience. The letterboard therapy described in the episode is Spelling to Communicate (S2C), a form of Facilitated Communication. It is not a valid form of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), as implied in the episode. Many peer organizations, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Psychological Association have issued statements opposing Facilitated Communication.
