Listen now
Description
🎙️ Today's podcast episode features the legendary Peppermint, and it's all about taking a stand. Brace yourself for a journey filled with activism and a whole lot of empowerment. ✊ Out Magazine named today’s guest as one of the most influential LGBTQ+ people of the year. 🤩 You might also know Peppermint from when she gained widespread recognition as the first out trans contestant on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 9. Then, Peppermint made history again as the first trans woman to originate a lead role in a Broadway musical.  And, now, Peppermint can be seen in A Transparent Musical at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, which opens this weekend! 🎭🌟 (If you go on Sunday, May 21st, I'll see you there!) 🤗 Peppermint's impact extends way beyond her performances. She's a board member of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation 🌈 and the American Civil Liberties Union's 🤝, first-ever artist ambassador for trans justice. In this episode, we dive into the pressing issue of discriminatory legislation targeting drag performers. We explore the intersectional conversation around body autonomy, women's reproductive rights, same-sex marriage, and gender-affirming care. Peppermint's presence on this episode is an absolute gift. Her message of love, inclusion, and resilience will leave you feeling inspired and ready to sashay and slay for what you believe in. 💖💃 Through the end of May, Team BKP will match donations up to $2,500 made to the ACLU of Tennessee. If you’d like to show your support, please consider donating to the ACLU of Tennessee. Send me a DM to @briansaysthat on IG by May 31st with a screenshot of your receipt.
