I was born in Albany. Drove through Dawson hundreds of times. The racist South was no mystery to me. My grandfather (German Jew escaped in 1939) settled and thrived in Americus, ga where the court case failed the Brazier family. I was raised to abhor racists. I wished many times during this 4th season that I could ask what they remembered and I nderstois about the Brazier murder. They did read the Albany Herald after 1960. I am not surprised by the racist police. But I am about the brazen evil and brutality in this case. Heartbreaking.

I just finished reading “White Rage” and it helps to hear stories from real life people who were succumbed to the harsh realities of oppression and suppression. The idea of Black excellence still doesn’t sit well today.

If the first episode is any indication, Buried Truths will expose a new audience to the poorly understood intersection a politics and racial violence in Georgia history and southern history generally.
