Description
The hill is a great place to appreciate the city view. On top of the hill, there’s a Freedom memorial and a liberty statue- A lady holding palm leaf. The memorial was first erected in 1947 to commemorate the Soviet liberation of Hungary from Nazi occupation during WWII. But it was turned into memorizing those who sacrificed for the independence, freedom, and prosperity of Hungary in 1989 because after WWII, the Soviet became the one who occupied and suppressed Hungary, instead of liberating it. The spring water of Gellert Bath is said to be discovered in the 15th century. The water comes from Gellert hill and is said to have some healing function because it contains some natural substances.
