Great journalism, so fair and balanced.
I found this story shocking; that someone who has made countless women’s lives a living hell and caused them lifelong PTSD could wreak this havoc for so many years before finally being stopped (for now). The impact on these women and their families is immense. It was very hard to listen to his mother’s side of the story because, although I understand a mother’s unconditional love, I cannot accept that this monster in any way truly believed his reign of terror was a way to ‘make friends’ or that his autism and anxiety were an excuse. Autism, as any verbal autistic person would say, does not equal stupidity. I believe Matthew Hardy is very intelligent and that he positively revelled in the destruction he caused. It is sadistic and I in no way believe there is anything other than incarceration that can stop him. Siri Kale handled all of her interviews with the utmost professionalism, especially when she may have wanted to scream when speaking to Matthew Hardy’s mother who at one point stated that “Matthew never actually harmed anyone”.

Insightful well balanced reporting. Sympathetically covering an awful life changing experience for a group of women. Couple with some thought provoking ideas about how to prevent more victims.

I loved this podcast - Kale’s ability to get great access, ask the right questions, and report the full story with balance and empathy makes her one of the stand out journalists of her generation. This was a fantastic listen, hopefully we’ll be hearing many more podcasts from Sirin in the future.
