Segment 1: Limits on Flagpoling at Border Crossings Host Canada has started to limit the practice of flagpoling at 12 ports of entry. For those who may not know, flagpoling is a legal procedure that allows people on temporary residence permits to get same-day immigration services by exiting and re-entering Canada within a 24-hour period. This is usually done at specific land border crossings. Segment 2: New IEC Draws Invited More Candidates Over the last week, IRCC held new draws in the pools of International Experience Canada, also known as IEC. Between June 3 and June 9, Canada invited 1,768 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit. Segment 3: Quebec Premier and Prime Minister Discuss Asylum Seekers Premier Francois Legault will be meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to discuss the significant influx of asylum seekers in Quebec. Premier Legault has raised concerns about the province's ability to provide for these individuals, pointing to a housing crisis and overstretched homeless shelters.
